Game (steam copy) crashes during the pre-cache

Got the game today and installed through steam. The pre-load runs, lots of text and the alpha warning sits there for about 20 seconds, but a few seconds after it gets to "pre-Caching objects" the game crashes hard, windows dialog pops up, etc.

I've run a re-validation through steam, it always finds 1 file that's corrupt, and it always replaces that one file, but next time I validate it always finds 1 file to replace again.

Windows 7, 550ti graphics card (DX11 capable, DX11 installed) with an octocore processor and 8 gig's of ram.

I am having a similar issue, but the non steam version. I would get to the Pre-Caching Objects and the game will crash. Ran to check for any new updates and that didn't help. Ran as Admin and that didn't work either.

My GPU is a EVGA GTX 980 SC.

Hello everyone, can you guys please post your system specs? We already have some known issues with AMD processors, so it could be related.

If you don't know your specs, press "Start," then type "dxdiag" and hit enter. Press "Save all information" and open the text file. Your specs will be the first "System Information" block in the file.

    Thank you.

We have a handle on an AMD CPU related crash and it should be fixed in the next patch. Your specific CPU was known to have this crash.

Expect a fix in the coming weeks when we push the next release.

That's fantastic to hear! We were hoping to get some feedback on that from someone with the issue in 0.8.4 to make sure it worked :)

Your system specs helped us track down the problem (along with others having the same issue)
